I had physical therapy at this facility following total knee replacement surgery. My therapists were always very encouraging when I was working on my exercises. The therapists were also knowledgeable about the types of exercises I needed for building strength and endurance. They pushed me to reach my goals without making me feel too overwhelmed.
Compleat Rehab was the first effective rehab I have received. After the second surgery I had on my ankle, (because there were issues with both the surgery itself and the old rehab place), these guys did the impossible and got me back into fighting shape FASTER than my first surgery, even though the second one was a revision was supposed to take much longer to recover from. If you or anyone you know needs therapy, Compleat Rehab is the place for you!
I've been seeing Matt for much of the past year, 1st dealing with a hip issue that my doctor misdiagnosed (and that Matt correctly diagnosed!) and then later rehabbing after an extensive ankle/foot surgery. Surgery had a few unexpected complications, but Matt was always there helping me, and reassuring me that I'd get through! I know I'm able to walk normally and without pain today because of Matt.
The best she is professional, friendly respectful and take care of each people. I have therapy before. Now went for knee surgery and I asked my Dr. to give me a choice for my therapy. Next week I will start therapy in this place again.
I was referred to Compleat Rehab in Locust before and after my shoulder surgery. This was my first time needing PT, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I actually looked forward to my PT appointments. My shoulder always felt so much better after each appointment. I would definitely recommend Compleat Rehab for anyone requiring PT services.
My recovery has been amazing with therapist Matt. I had 2 surgery’s and coming in to Highland creek has been the best choice. I appreciated all the help and attention from all team members.
After a complete shoulder replacement, I went to Compleat Rehab for my post op PT. After two months out of surgery, I have complete range of motion and no pain. You’ll really get the best experience possible if you use them for your PT needs.
I love Compleat Rehab! After my knee surgeries I had wonderful care from everyone. My therapist most of the time was Rebecca and she was very professional, kind, gentle, and knowledgeable. Everyone that worked with me was great!

How can physical therapy help me after surgery?
Even after your post-surgical recovery procedures have been completed, our physical therapists are committed to ensuring that you enjoy a safe life.
Although pain relief medications may be prescribed by your doctor, physical therapy has been shown to relieve pain and eliminate the need for long-term medication use.
Pain management drugs simply mask pain, while physical therapy resolves the problem where it begins. Specialized procedures, techniques, and modalities, such as ultrasound, joint mobilization, laser therapy, electrical stimulation, and home exercise systems are all ways that a physical therapist can aid your recovery.
Our China Grove, Gastonia, Huntersville, Lincolnton, Locust, Mint Hill, Mount Holly, and Charlotte, NC physical therapists will build a recovery plan that includes tailored stretches and exercises in order to help you heal and get back to your usual everyday life. Compleat Rehab & Sports Therapy will help you get to your optimum levels of function after surgery.
Physical limitations may occur in the days and weeks following surgery. Our physical therapist will show you how to navigate these limitations, such as how to go up and down the stairs, put on clothes, or get in and out of a vehicle.
In many cases, this can be achieved with the help of assistive devices. This will allow you to walk around more comfortably while still trying to regain the normal range of movement in your body by making these accommodations.
In order to optimize your long-term well-being, prevent injury, and avoid the need for more surgery in the future, part of your recovery plan will also provide education on any lifestyle and/or dietary improvements you may have made.
Did you have one of these procedures?
When conservative treatment options for an injury or health condition fail to provide effective relief, many physicians will recommend surgical correction.
Some common conditions that may lead to surgery include, but are not limited to:
- Rotator cuff tears
- ACL, MCL, and/or meniscus repairs
- Total hip replacements
- Full or partial knee replacements
- Heart surgery – ablations, stent placements, cardiac pacemakers, etc
The effect these operations will have on your body should not be underestimated. At least some degree of discomfort, inflammation, mobility restrictions and swelling are caused by most surgeries.
In order to help your tissues to heal, and to prevent chronic dysfunction, it is possible that you will have to learn how to do simple things all over again, like walking and getting dressed.
Our China Grove, Gastonia, Huntersville, Lincolnton, Locust, Mint Hill, Mount Holly, and Charlotte, NC physical therapists will teach you the best and safest way to perform tasks safely after your operation.
Your surgeon will also outline these instructions which may include hip precautions, sternal precautions, spine precautions, not putting weight on your limb, etc.
How will I benefit from post-surgical rehab?
Pre-surgical and post-surgical rehabilitation are vital to positive postoperative outcomes. Any type of surgery can be treated as a form of trauma and can affect the body in a variety of ways.
Even minor surgical procedures that are uncomplicated may have a significant impact on your health. Post-operative recovery is particularly necessary because of this, in order to ensure that everything goes smoothly after the surgery is completed.
In addition to reducing your pain and accelerating recovery, individualized post-operative rehabilitation with a physical therapist will also reduce the chances of postoperative complications, including infections, bleeding, blood clots, muscle fatigue, scar tissue, impaired function, and other factors that may adversely affect your long-term health.
Another critical reason for choosing post-surgical physical therapy is its ability to help reduce or completely avoid prescription painkillers, including opioids.
An opioid epidemic is currently gripping the country and impacting every socioeconomic class. According to the CDC, an estimated 115 people every day die from an opioid overdose, and upwards of 29% of people, prescribed opioids will end up misusing these dangerous drugs.
For this reason, the CDC advises people to choose physical therapy over prescription painkillers whenever possible.
